What Is The Difference Between An End Suction Pump And A Single-stage Pump?

Feb 28, 2025

End suction pump, also known as single suction pump, refers to a pump in which liquid enters from one end of the impeller; And the single-stage pump we often refer to is an industrial water pump with only one impeller. This is the most direct difference between these two types of pumps, but it may also be easy to confuse these two pump models because they both have a single word.

Single stage pump: mainly composed of pump body, pump cover, electric motor with output shaft, pump shaft, bearing seat, impeller, mechanical seal, and mechanical seal cover. According to the installation position of the motor, it can be divided into horizontal single-stage pumps and vertical single-stage pumps; According to the suction channel, it can be divided into single-stage single suction centrifugal pumps and single-stage double suction centrifugal pumps.

Single stage pump: The maximum head of a typical single-stage pump is only 125 meters, suitable for transporting liquids at high, medium, and low flow rates. Compared with multi-stage pumps, it has the advantages of high efficiency and smooth operation when the head requirement is not high.
